Kean Michael Meoli
My name is Erin Meoli and my son Kean Michael Meoli was born
June 14, 2007 in Philadelphia with surgeries at CHOP.  (We live in
Kansas City, but thought the odds would be better somewhere
higher in volume for these 3 procedures.)

My husband Nick and I have an older son named Bennett who just
turned 3 (HH).

Kean's Norwood went really well and he was out of the hospital
within a week and a half of surgery.  However, once we were back
home, within a week he was life-flighted to the children's hospital
here for respiratory distress  and fever.  They searched for
source of infection and finally realized he had mediastinitis (chest
wound infection).  We were immediately jetted back up to
Philadelphia where they debrided the wound the following day.  He
went into ventricular fibrillation shortly after and suffered a
stroke (that was diagnosed later) during his arrest.  He had to
have IV antibiotics for 4 weeks in the hospital and then 2 weeks
of oral once we finally got back home.  We returned back to CHOP
3 weeks later for a stent placement due to his atrial septal
defect closing...no one knows why this happened.

He then returned in November for his Glenn and was released 4
days later.

We have been home since then, and Kean does very well.  He has
always been breast-fed, making us very fortunate to not ever have
had to deal with a feeding tube.  He is a great eater so far and
weighs over 16 pounds now! An Occupational Therapist visits twice
a week to help with the stroke issues, but so far he seems just a
little behind developmentally with mild Paresthesia in his left
arm/hand.

He  seems very happy and we try to cherish every day we have
with him.
